DURANGO, Colo. – Fort Lewis College alumnus Jack Pongyesva (Environmental Studies and Political Science, ’17) returns to his alma mater to headline the 2025 Confluence Seminar on Thursday, Feb. 27. Pongyesva, now the manager of the Intertribal Centennial Conversations group with the Grand Canyon Trust, will share his experiences in elevating Indigenous voices in conservation efforts across Grand Canyon National Park and the surrounding region. His talk, “A Journey in Discovering Grand Canyon’s Unabated Call,” will explore the challenges and successes of ensuring that Grand Canyon’s 11 associated tribes are central to education, stewardship, and economic opportunities. The event, hosted by the Four Corners Water Center in partnership with the Environmental Center, Native American Center, Environment & Sustainability Department, and the Tribal Water Media Fellowship, is free and open to the public.
